LEC Versus will not return in 2027, Commissioner Artem Bykov confirms

LEC Versus will not return in 2027, according to LEC Commissioner Artem Bykov, ending Riot Games’ experiment with a format that let European Regional League (ERL) teams compete on the League of Legends European Championship stage.

Speaking about the future of the League’s competition, Bykov confirmed that Riot is not planning to bring LEC Versus back next year. “We are not bringing LEC Versus back [in 2027],” Bykov said to Sheep Esports. “We feel like there’s great developments in the Tier 2 space outside of LEC. [Bringing ERL teams to the LEC] is not currently planned for next year.”
