A reliable insider has confirmed that all the players gathering for Destiny 2’s final update haven’t helped improve things at Bungie, with significant layoffs on the way.

Has Destiny 2’s Final Update Helped Improve Things at Bungie? – ‘No’
In his latest YouTube video, Paul Tassi discussed the current state of Destiny 2 and Bungie following the final update. He first talked about the recent reports of Bungie laying off approximately 400 staff members during the summer layoffs. While he couldn’t confirm the exact number, he did mention that significant layoffs were expected. Tassi emphasized that this situation was inevitable if the developer chose to shut down a game with half its workforce dedicated to it.
Tassi also inquired with his internal sources about whether the highly successful final update for Destiny 2 had improved the situation at Bungie. Given that the game ranked third on the Steam revenue charts over the past week, he wondered whether this had made any difference. He received a straightforward one-word response: “No.”
The insider also added that the game is receiving a ‘final hotfix’, which means there will be no ongoing support for the title. The only time a team will intervene is if there is something game-breaking. “They are not even keeping a small team around to do like the bare bones of what it would require to keep this game from breaking,” said Tassi.
