Rockstar’s new mod rules apply to GTA 6, and modders are taking note

Rockstar Games has published new mod guidelines, covering every title in its catalog. And even though the document doesn’t name the game explicitly, the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 falls under them, which has left modders reeling.

Gamers find the policy over on Rockstar's Community Resources page. It lays out what modders can and can't do with the developer's games and intellectual property. Mods that expand or alter official storylines, missions, or characters are banned, while combining assets (such as maps or characters) from one Rockstar title into another is also off-limits. Unofficial ports that get Rockstar games running on unsupported consoles or hardware are out, too, along with cheat menus that touch official multiplayer services. So what’s actually permissible? Let’s dive in.
