A long series, a lot to unpack. First of all, in terms of the veto, why did you let Nuke through and not back your Dust2?
Yeah, I think Dust 2 is their best map, and they just didn’t want to play that. I know from outside it seems our Nuke is the worst map, but also maybe at least something with Dust, we are also not the best, you know.
We wanted to take out their best map instead of taking out our weakness. But I think it wasn’t a loss because it was Nuke. I think we just ran out of energy for Nuke, and then they had really good momentum, and we couldn’t win any duel on Nuke.
You had a good T-side on Cache, but it still got tight in the end. Was something missing on the CT side?
I mean, that was our first official on Cache, so we were missing some reps on the map when it comes to officials. Also, first time on this big stage, and I think Cache is kind of a T-sided map.
You can easily control how you want to play, and to be honest, we lost on Cache like two rounds where I think we should have played a little bit better, and then it would have been easier.
Even though we understood what was happening, we just didn’t get the kill or something, and that’s why in the end it was like getting closer.
There were a few times during the series where you lost from advantageous positions. Your players are young, and they like to go for duels. Did that cost you, and how do you want to balance that aggression with playing the situation?
Yeah, I mean, definitely we lost today because in these clutch situations they were much more calm and much more sharp, but we are, as you say, inexperienced, and we need to get some reps, and we need to fix the mistakes. So, I think that was a difference maker today.
I don’t think they were shooting better than us in the first three maps. For the fourth, we just lost energy, and they were using it better, but yeah, there was some communication issue where, for example, we were not discussing to swing and then someone just swung.
There can be some pressure situations when there are many people screaming, and you are playing in the final. You make some decisions quickly, which you wouldn’t do in practice.
We just need to get the experience, and then it’s going to be better.
An amazing achievement to get to this stage of the tournament. This event signified you guys going above your former parent club, NAVI, in the VRS Rankings. Can you reflect on your progress?
I think we are doing a great job during this year overall. About VRS, I think it’s a bit random, you know? You can be top three right now like us, but if you lose in Porto, we can easily end up being in the top 12 again.
It’s like you need to be on point all the time, but we are just working hard. We are trying to fix the mistakes, and I’m just happy, you know, we ended up in second place.
In terms of what you saw today, what do you want to fix and look at going forward?
I mean, we don’t really have much time to think about mistakes and things because tomorrow we are already flying to Copenhagen. I think everyone understands why we lost today.
As I said, communication, some pressure situation. So I think people just think about it right now. We’re going to have one day of practice, and then we are just trying to fix that, and that’s all.
It’s just some communication, some situations when we need to be better and more focused.
Do you think your players will be able to keep their confidence and keep their energy after this loss?
I will make sure that everyone is confident.
