It’s time to pour a little water on the fire that is the “Xbox Classics” claim from Extas1s.

After Extas1s’ claim that Microsoft is working on a project to bring original Xbox and Xbox 360 games to PC, Game Pass and other players went out, it was met with excitement and skepticism. Within hours, however, the claims have seemingly been shut down by one of the rumored parties.

In the official Discord server for Xenia, who Extas1s said was working with Xbox on the project, members of the team immediately denied any of it happening.

“It’s not real,” team member ZoloKluk said. “Microsoft has their own Xbox 360 emulator, they’d never even consult Xenia.”

They then added: “If it was real I’d be under an NDA”.

Journalist Jez Corden also shot down the claims of it happening right now on social media saying, “Xbox is gunning to bring Xbox games to more devices, but this particular scenario isn’t a thing at the moment.”

In the original report, it was mentioned that the claim needed to be taken with a grain of salt due to recent issues of inaccuracy from the source. While covering rumors is a part of the job, this is why everything covered is investigated and independently verified by Insider Gaming and other journalists.

Microsoft has yet to respond to multiple requests for comment on the claims.
