Where Dolls Hang is a psychological survival horror game from developer Steelkrill Studio, inspired by the real-life Island of the Dead Dolls in Mexico.
In Where Dolls Hang, you play as a detective who is looking for details on the hikers who’ve gone missing in the forest. It’s also the location where your daughter went missing, herself.
“What begins as a professional investigation becomes personal,” the game’s description reads. “Somewhere in the forest lies the truth behind the disappearances…and the fate of your daughter that also went missing in the region.”
Players must examine bodies, collect clues, place evidence markers, and document all of their findings using their camera. There are also elements of base building with your safe room, crafting your weapons and tools, and even boat customization.
Steelkrill Studio calls the area you’re investigating a “vibrant yet disturbing forest ecosystem”. A dynamic day/night cycle can change gameplay, making it easier or more difficult to hide and avoid creatures. Speaking of creatures, they hunt during the day. However, once nightfall happens, they become even more dangerous.
