The upcoming Battlefield 6 BR (battle royale) mode has become one of the most talked-about features since the shooter title’s official multiplayer reveal.
Battlefield fans have been eager for details about the new large-scale mode—expected to reintroduce Firestorm, the franchise’s take on battle royale—yet EA and DICE have kept most information under wraps.

Battlefield 6 battle royale release date
EA and DICE have yet to announce an official release date for Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode. Reports and leaks suggest it may debut alongside BF6 Season 1, launching on Oct. 28, 2025. However, it’s apparent absence from the Season 1 trailer has led to speculation that the mode could arrive later, possibly in early 2026, around Season 2 or 3.
The mode is currently undergoing public testing through Battlefield Labs, which allows players to try experimental content before its full rollout. EA has confirmed that successful Labs features may be integrated into future seasonal updates, indicating that the BR could launch through this process. EA also emphasized that release timing remains flexible, as feedback from Labs sessions could lead to further tweaks or delays to ensure a smooth and balanced experience at launch.
What to expect from Battlefield 6 BR
The BF6 BR mode is expected to revive Firestorm, first seen in Battlefield V (2019), but completely redesigned for the next generation. Based on the current multiplayer modes, the revamped Firestorm is highly likely to feature large-scale destruction, squad-based tactics, and vehicle-heavy combat.
Early leaks suggest matches will feature up to 100 players in four-person squads, battling across a massive Los Angeles map. A deadly shrinking ring will define the match pace, instantly eliminating anyone caught outside its boundary, making aggression and mobility crucial.
Of course, the mode is anticiapted to include Battlefield’s signature class system, allowing for specialized roles, loadouts, and gadgets. Vehicles such as tanks and helicopters will return, and destruction will remain a core feature, enabling players to reshape the map by collapsing buildings for cover or opening new routes through city blocks.
Will Battlefield 6 BR be free-to-play?
While EA hasn’t confirmed pricing, several reports suggest that BF6’s battle royale mode will likely be free-to-play, following EA’s live-service approach to Apex Legends. Like Apex (and Activision’s Call of Duty: Warzone), the game mode is expected to generate revenue through skins, battle passes, and premium bundles, while keeping essential content like maps, weapons, and modes free.
