Crystal Dynamics says Tomb Raider: Catalyst will feature the same Survivor-era Lara Croft seen in Legacy of Atlantis and the reboot trilogy.
Recent feedback from game developers suggests the Survivor-era version of the gaming legend will remain the primary version players can control for the near future. Although Catalyst has been postponed until 2028, it is confirmed that this game will include the same version of the upcoming remake of the original Tomb Raider, titled Legacy of Atlantis.
Tomb Raider: Catalyst Continues Survivor Lara’s Story

During a Q&A at Gamescom (via GamesIndustry), Raul Siqueira, game director at Crystal Dynamics, confirmed that the two upcoming games will share a collaboration and noted that the Lara Croft version featured in both games is the same as the one introduced in the 2013 reboot of the franchise. He also wanted to assure players that Legacy of Atlantis will be faithful to the original 1996 Tomb Raider game.
“Obviously, we are making the games together,” he says. “However, it is very important for us to distinguish that Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is completely its own project and we are making sure that we are staying faithful to the original game. When it comes to specifics of where Lara is in her journey moving forward, we want to be respectful to both the games that came before and the games that came after. The Lara you see here is the same Lara from the Survivor era [Tomb Raider 2013, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which tell Lara’s origin story], and it will be the same Lara in our projects moving forward.”
