Tekken 8 Will Add Popular Character from Baki Anime Series

Tekken 8 developers have confirmed the fourth playable character addition to the title, and it’s none other than Yujiro Hanma from the Baki anime series.

The Tekken franchise saw a huge shift at the beginning of the year, with the game director and producer, Katsuhiro Harada, sharing a final heartfelt message marking the end of his time on the series. However, the series continues to go strong, with developers announcing new content for 2027.

Yujiro Hanma Joins Tekken 8 in 2027

A new post on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Tekken confirms that Yujiro Hanma will be joining the franchise as the fourth playable character in 2027. The announcement post also comes with a new trailer; however, that doesn’t feature any gameplay clips or even the character model of the upcoming character. It features only several clips from the anime, aimed at building hype for Yujiro Hanma, The Strongest Creature on Earth.

Yujiro Hanma, for those unaware, is the father of the protagonist, Baki, who is also referred to as the Strongest Creature on Earth in the series. In his time, the character has achieved unimaginable feats to the point that even the government of the United States of America has signed a treaty with him. With the character being known for his strength and pure combat ability, he feels like a great fit for game like Tekken 8. All that remains to be seen is how developers handle his gameplay.

In other news, it has been announced that the former ‘Tekken’ Boss Katsuhiro Harada has launched a new gaming studio with SNK. Additionally, Sony had a lot to talk about AI in the latest earnings call, announcing a partnership with Bandai Namco to explore Gen AI.
