Tarkov’s Lighthouse Map is Finally Being Hugely Improved—Here’s How

Battlestate Games is preparing to make good on promises to overhaul Lighthouse, arguably the most hated map in Escape from Tarkov, the decade-old extraction shooter. For years, Lighthouse has been a thorn in the side of gamers everywhere for many reasons, and with this sizeable update, all those reasons have been addressed.

In a post on social media, Battlestate Games just revealed what’s changing on Lighthouse, and the list of amendments is nothing short of tantalizing. If you’ve ever had an issue with Lighthouse, this incoming update might change your mind about it for good.

Lighthouse Changes Revealed by Battlestate

In a post on social media, Battlestate Games revealed the full slate of changes coming to Escape from Tarkov’s Lighthouse map.

It all begins with a complete relocation of the Rogue enemies that patrol or man the water treatment plant. After the change, they’ll be holed up in and around the chalet area. This is becoming a more fortified encampment, surrounded by observation posts, which will leave the water treatment plant, where most of the map’s quests are located, free of a higher challenge.

You might be thinking that this new placement presents a major concern for anyone traversing the long, main road that bisects Lighthouse, and you’d be right. However, Battlestate Games has foreseen this worry and negated it.

Now, in the middle of the road, you’ll find a makeshift UN checkpoint, which provides solid cover against any Rogues trying to ping you from the chalet above. Additionally, new points of interest are being injected all over the map and around the road, including:

  • Rogue caches
  • Abandoned outposts
  • Observation posts
  • An underground tunnel through the cliffs

PMC spawns have been scrutinized by the team for this update, and they’re now more isolated, which means you’ll be way less likely to spawn right on top of other PMCs also heading in to check out the new Lighthouse overhaul. New cliffs, rocks, and vegetation have been added to provide more cover from the start of a raid, leaving you less likely to get that instant (head, eyes) right off the bat.

If that wasn’t enough, the BTR driver is now finding his way into Lighthouse, giving you the ultimate protection against all comers. It follows a path that leads it up the main road and through the scav villages and into the water treatment plant, and it officially renders Lighthouse the third map with BTR coverage.

If that still isn’t enough for you, you might also like to know that all landmines are being removed from the location, except for the ones necessary to mark the map’s boundary and to protect Lightkeeper’s island.

Oh, and if you’re a USEC PMC, you no longer receive any preferential treatment from the Rogues. They’re taking no prisoners, and they’ll shoot you just the same as a BEAR now.
