Take-Two CEO Talks Netflix Partnership Ahead of GTA 6 Event

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick shares fresh comments on the GTA 6 Netflix partnership and explains why the collaboration makes sense.

Rockstar recently announced that an extended look at GTA 6 will arrive later this month and will be available on Netflix. Now, Strauss Zelnick is speaking about the partnership with the premier streaming brand.

Strauss Zelnick Addresses Netflix Partnership Before GTA 6 Showcase

Strauss Zelnick was recently interviewed by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg. In the interview, he discussed the partnership with Netflix. While he didn’t give specifics about the deal that gave Netflix brief exclusivity to the first look at GTA 6, he said they were great partners and that people would understand the reason for the collaboration when they watched the event.

Netflix previously expressed strong interest in featuring the GTA brand on its platform. The GTA Trilogy launched on Netflix Games in 2024 and has secured over 30 million downloads.

During a recent investor call, Zelnick praised the future of cloud gaming and streaming your titles rather than relying on dedicated hardware, which is becoming increasingly expensive.

Even when we supported Stadia some years ago, at the same time we were supporting Stadia about concerns about latency. You’re right, certain things remain perpetually in the future, like nuclear fusion, which is perpetually 30 years away, although people think it’s not now. I hope it’s not. I don’t think that’s the case here because of enormous advances in hyperscaler networks and advances in edge network technology. I think, for example, there’s one player in the market that’s looking at rolling out a significant edge network that would address latency, at least in the U.S. I picked three years kind of because we know it’s not tomorrow; I don’t think it’s five years. Of course, I could be wrong. We’re not betting any of our company on this.

Take-Two CEO Confident GTA 6 Install Base Will Meet Expectations

Speaking more directly about his dedicated hardware concerns, Zelnick told Schreier that he expects the GTA install base to reflect its original 6 temptations, but he’s concerned about the price of Hardware increasing.

“We believe the install base around launch time will reflect our original expectations,” he said. “The only thing that will cause me to be concerned, not worried, but concerned, would be if we somehow felt that number was going to be smaller than we thought. But that isn’t the case.”
