Take-Two CEO Says GTA 6 Price is an ‘Incredible Bargain’

Weeks ago, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games unveiled the pricing structure for the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6. It was basically what everyone expected, with the game’s standard edition emerging at $80, while the upgraded ‘Ultimate Edition’ bears a $100 price tag.

Of course, not everyone was happy with the price, with many feeling that the $100 edition is the version that Take-Two is almost forcing people to buy. However, during a recent financial update, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, said that even the $80 version of GTA 6 is an incredible bargain.

Deso GTA 6 Have Fair Pricing?

Grand Theft Auto 6’s price point is arguably what we all predicted, and in some cases, it’s more affordable than what some thought it would be. The Ultimate Edition being ‘just’ $100 was certainly a surprise, especially when you consider everything it comes with. It features stacks of in-game bonuses, but again, the edition didn’t set well with everyone.

During a recent investor call, Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two, the publisher behind the Grand Theft Auto series, touched on the price point for the game.

In his words, it’s a steal:

We’ve said this many, many times. Our goal is to deliver way more value to consumers than what we charge them.

To say that we expect that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be an incredible bargain as experiences go is an understatement, because Rockstar Games is known for overdelivering.

He went so far as to acknowledge that, given ‘the hype around this title’, Take-Two could have set the price tag however they wished, but that’s not how they operate:

Our focus is on delivering way, way more value than what we charge for something.

That said, Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be the fastest-selling game ever made. It’s anticipated that it will push Take-Two Interactive into never-before-seen revenue records, securing around $8 billion in this fiscal year.

He certainly has a point. In the past, Strauss Zelnick has stated that games should be priced based on the entertainment value they provide. With Grand Theft Auto, you’re always getting a near endless title with untold opportunities for content and side activities, and that’s before you consider the multiplayer platform, which goes on forever, effectively.

How much is that worth?
