Once again, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has reaffirmed the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6. Normally, the third confirmation of the game’s release date would not be major news, but when this is the most anticipated game of its generation, and there will be freshmen entering High School who were not even born when the previous Grand Theft Auto game was released, it’s worth taking a look at.
GTA 6 was initially slated for release in 2025, then pushed to May of 2026, and finally delayed again in November 2025, with the release date set for November 19, 2026. Back in April, at the iicon event for industry executives, Zelnick said many people would be “calling in sick” on November 19. Now, he’s reaffirming the release date and doing so with even more assurance.
Take-Two CEO Calls GTA the Most Valuable Entertainment IP
Speaking to David Senra, Zelnick confidently stated that he knows when GTA 6 will release: November 19. When asked about how many times the game has been pushed back, Zelnick said, “I think we’re about 18 months behind the original date. Not much more than that.”
Senra went on to ask if the Grand Theft Auto franchise is the most successful gaming IP of all time. Zelnick said that the answer to that question would depend on the qualifiers, but confidently stated that GTA is believed to be the most valuable entertainment IP ever created.
“I think so, but it depends on how you count. I think if you counted every Mario Kart, Call of Duty, and a bunch of others, it’s not entirely clear. But I think in terms of the value of the IP, most people believe it is the most valuable entertainment IP ever created,” said Zelnick.
Take-Two CEO Explains Why GTA 5 Still Dominates Years Later

Going on to discuss why they do not disclose the total revenue generated by GTA 5, Zelnick would sheepishly say, “It’s a lot,” before discussing the replay value and longevity of GTA 5.
“The reason people keep playing is because it’s constantly updated and it’s really great. And the most recent content pack was awesome. You can actually talk and connect and play together, and yeah, it’s amazing that people don’t realize that you know online games are highly social experiences.”
It appears it’s all systems go for November 19 and Grand Theft Auto 6. However, anything can happen, and you’ll only truly be playing in the game when it actually releases. There’s no shortage of top-tier games to be playing in the meantime, so feel free to attack your backlog while you wait for November 19.
