Simu Liu Gives New Update on Sleeping Dogs Movie

Simu Liu has provided an update on the forthcoming Sleeping Dogs film. The latest update came in December 2025, when Liu announced that Timo Tjahjanto would direct the film.

Now, he’s updating eager fans on the production status. This news comes via a tweet directly from the MCU star himself.

Sleeping Dogs Movie Is Working on a Square Enix Deal

The news came in response to a fan on Twitter who said they were happy about his involvement in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie but wanted more of an update on Sleeping Dogs.

Simu Liu, who is slated to produce and star in the forthcoming adaptation of the 2014 game, explained that they have a very strong path forward and are currently in the process of making a deal with Square Enix, a studio he says he’s a fan of. He also thanked the audience for their continued support for this project.

Although the movie doesn’t have a release date yet, they are moving forward with a production company, director, writer, and script, so things are still looking hopeful for the film’s release.
