Sentinels Suffer Early in VCT Americas to End to Nightmare Year

Sentinels have suffered an early exit in VCT Americas Stage 2, falling 0-2 to KRÜ Esports in the Play-In stage of the event. The 7-13, 8-13 defeat encapsulated the Valorant roster’s 2026 struggles as KRÜ moved to within one win of the Playoffs.

The loss compounds an already miserable year for one of Valorant’s most iconic organizations, a year in which Sentinels failed to even come close to qualifying for an international event.

The result means that Sentinels finish 11th-12th in the VCT Americas Stage 2 split, which featured an enlarged format to accommodate Valorant Challenger rosters.

The one solace for Sentinels will be that they didn’t fall to a Challenger roster, as so many teams have done across the VCT landscape, such as Cloud9 in the Americas or Fnatic and Team Heretics in VCT EMEA.

Still, the losses to ENVY and KRÜ Esports will be painful ones that compound the already agonizing year for Sentinels fans, which has seen the extremely well-supported organization fail to qualify for a single international event.

The organization’s post-2025 rebuild saw the departures of Zachary ‘Zekken’ Patrone, Jordan ‘Zellsis’ Montemurro, and Sean ‘bang’ Bezerra, in favor of younger, less experienced players except for Jonah ‘JonahP’ Pulice.

That new roster, in various forms, disrupted by Visa and roster issues, has failed to finish better than 9th-10th in any VCT Americas split in 2026.

Sentinels CEO Rob Moore apologized for the season and the org’s roster management, stating, “The 2026 experiment blew up the lab. We made infinite mistakes as an org and as a team. We are committed to delivering better for our fans. We will be back.”

Overall, the roster has largely failed to gel under the leadership of organizational legend, Mohamed ‘johnqt’ Ouarid, who apologized for how Sentinels’ season ended, sharing on social media, “the boys worked really hard everyday to improve it just didn’t workout for multiple reasons please show them some love they deserve it.

“personally my worst year result wise but I have improved as a player and as a person and thats why I will be successful again.”
