In a recent interview, the Take-Two CEO has said that Red Dead Online hasn’t been a missed opportunity and has been successful for the company.

Red Dead Redemption 2 includes an online component known as Red Dead Online. However, this mode has often been overshadowed by the immense popularity of GTA Online. Fans have frequently expressed concerns about the lack of updates and Rockstar’s apparent neglect of Red Dead’s multiplayer experience in comparison to GTA Online. Despite these criticisms, the CEO believes that no opportunities were missed in this regard.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Sales Show Online Wasn’t a Missed Opportunity

During a new interview with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked whether Red Dead Online was a missed opportunity. Zelnick straight away replied, pointing towards the sales of the title, stating that “there is literally nothing about Red Dead selling 85 million units that could signal a missed opportunity. And Red Dead Online has been immensely successful and long lasting.”

Zelnick also mentioned that if Rockstar Games didn’t have Grand Theft Auto (GTA) under their umbrella, players would often discuss how Red Dead is a massive franchise on its own. The CEO shared that he personally finds Red Dead incredible and enjoys engaging with it. He emphasized that the game’s “spectacular entertainment”, beauty, and being up to date are reasons it continues to sell well, even though it is not the latest release.

In other news, an insider has claimed that Red Dead Redemption 2 Enhanced Edition is scheduled to release ‘this year’. Additionally, Red Dead Redemption 2 has a Pokémon mod in the works.
