Quake Champions is no longer free to play after eight years as Bethesda ends seasonal updates

Quake Champions is no longer free to play after eight years, as Bethesda has turned the arena shooter into a paid game. The change went live along with update 1.31 on Sept. 23, which removes microtransactions and Battle Passes while unlocking all Champions and almost every cosmetic item. Anyone who played the game before the update can continue playing without paying for the new version, while new players will now have to purchase it for $9.99.
