A brand-new software update has arrived for the PS5, featuring a widget that shows the Top 10 most popular games in your country, along with the currently trending game modes.
For those unaware, PlayStation tested this new widget in beta earlier this year, where players could not only see the most popular games and game modes of the week, but also the player counts for those games. The update has now been released, and players can add it to their Welcome Hub.
PS5’s Top 10 Games Update Doesn’t Show Player Counts
The PS5 has received a new software update today, version 26.06-14.00.00, which introduces the Community Activity widget to the Welcome Hub. This widget can be viewed in two ways: Trending Now and Top 10. Trending Now highlights multiplayer games or modes that are currently gaining popularity. Top 10 displays the most popular games in your country or region over the past week. However, unlike the beta version, it does not show player counts.
Other than that, the new update lets you see who is speaking in the voice chat with the new “Display Who’s Speaking,” which lets players turn on Display names and also choose where the speaker indicator appears on the screen through the ‘Position’ tool. On the PS5 Pro, Enhance PSSr Image Quality is enabled by default, and system software performance and stability have also improved.
There’s also a change for certain countries and regions that are using a PS5 or PS5 Pro console. If they head to, Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings and select ‘Turn Off Bluetooth’ then the console will not enter rest mode and HDMI Device Link will not function. The new tool is for “managing controller connections at esports venues and similar locations” and shouldn’t be used for any other purpose.
