Nintendo has announced that Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green will be released for the Nintendo Switch next week.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for this announcement for quite some time, ever since an insider teased their return. However, we were not aware of exactly how the two iconic titles would return or on which platform they would appear. Now, an official announcement from Nintendo provides all the details we need.
Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green Arrive for Switch on February 27
A blog post by Pokémon.com reveals when Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green will be released for the Switch. It seems the next Pokémon Day, which also marks the 30th anniversary of the franchise, already has its date set. Pokeom Presents will be hosted on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 6:00 a.m. PST. Right after the conclusion of this event, both Fire Red and Leaf Green will be available to purchase for $19.99 on the Nintendo eShop.
Both titles were first released for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, and now, more than 2 decades later, they are returning to the Nintendo Switch. The games feature the classic storylines of Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue that everybody loves, with Fire Red and Leaf Green introducing updated visuals and the Sevii Islands. Players can also look forward to trading Pokémon, battling each other, and more using local communication.
