Blizzard Entertainment has revealed the abilities and a gameplay teaser for the newest Overwatch hero, Shion.

The upcoming damage hero will become the 52nd playable character in the online shooter and the seventh released this year.

Overwatch has already added Anran (Damage), Jetpack Cat (Support), Mizuki (Support), Emre (Damage), Domina (Tank), and Sierra (Damage) this year.

And three more heroes are expected to be released in 2026 for 10 heroes in total to celebrate the game’s 10th anniversary.

Shion will release during Overwatch Season 3 on Tuesday, June 16.

Shion Overwatch Kit

Shion will be an aggressive damage hero, hunting people down with her dual pistols.

She looks very mobile, with both a sideways dash and the ability to ride a motorbike that she can spawn in and throw at opponents.

She also has a potentially broken Major Perk, which gives her every damage subrole passive:

  • Detect below half-health enemies through walls (Recon)
  • Critical hits reduce your movement ability cooldowns (Sharpshooter)
  • Eliminating an enemy briefly increases your reload speed (Specialist)

Her full kit is as follows:

Weapon

  • Kira Pistols – rapid-fire pistols

Abilities

  • Execution – Fire an X-shaped volley. Hold to tighten its spread.
  • Evade – Dash and briefly gain overhealth
  • Joyride – Rev your engine. Reactivate to dismount and launch your bike forward

Ultimate

  • Satsuriku Spree – Rush forward three times in a storm of gunfire

Passives

  • Subrole: Flanker – Health packs restore more health.

Perks

Minor

  • Rapid Reload – Evade reloads nine ammo
  • X Machina – Execution does 20% more damage to enemies below half health

Major

  • Refuel – Joyride instantly restores 50 health and regenerates 20 health per second while active
  • Faces of Death – Gain all other Damage subrole passives (Recon, Specialist, and Sharpshooter)

What do you make of Shion’s kit in Overwatch? Will the Faces of Death perk be broken? Share your thoughts on the Insider Gaming Discord.

Meanwhile, Mike ‘Hastr0’ Rufail claims Overwatch is back as a top-tier esport.
