Only 7% of Escape from Tarkov Players Are In Standard PvP Mode

Escape from Tarkov has entered a new stage lately with the addition of a seasonal PvP model. It effectively gives players an entirely new way to experience the extraction shooter, giving them a third character option bolstered by modifiers and a new battle pass system, along with exclusive rewards, missions, and, at the end of it all, a wipe.

In a recent update on social media, Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games, revealed exactly what percentage of the player base is enjoying the new seasonal content versus ‘standard’ PvP and the PvE modes available, and what he said is pretty surprising.

Bigger Than You Thought

Months ago, Buyanov stressed that ‘towards the end of a wipe’ in Escape from Tarkov, the player base is split 50-50 between PvP and PvE. It was expected that the new season mode would split the community into thirds, but that hasn’t been the case.

In a post on social media published earlier today, Buyanov revealed that 55% of all players are in the PvP Season mode, while 38% of players are on the PvE platform. Only 7% of players are still in the stock-standard PvP offering.

This is important for a couple of reasons.

First, it indicates that the majority of players are trying out the new seasonal mode, which Battlestate most likely considers a success. It also represents a higher PvE concentration than some fans might have thought.

Some fans have argued that Battlestate Games is splitting the community too much. There are now four ways to play Escape from Tarkov, if you count Arena, the spin-off multiplayer shooter. Many have suggested that PvP’s standard platform should have just been replaced wholesale with the PvP Season mode.
