New Worms Game ‘Galactic Tactics’ Unveiled at Gamescom 2026

Everyone has a soft spot for the Worms franchise, and Galactic Tactics will warm the hearts of worldwide fans, both old and new. The game wasn’t much of a secret in the build-up to the event, but it’s nice to see Worms back.

Worms Galactic Tactics first leaked online in early August 2026. This came after initial leaks, which saw the first unofficial Galactic Tactics Worms gameplay, and now Gamescom 2026 has treated us to the real thing.

Worms Galactic Tactics is the Newest Game in the Franchise

During Opening Night Live, amongst the many star-studded announcements, there was time for some slinky worms to slide across screens in new, strategic action.

The Worms franchise has incorporated strategy into the mainline games, as you seek to usurp your opponent with positional thinking and destructive cerebral forethought, but Worms Galactic Tactics goes heavier on the strategic motif.

The best way to describe the new Worms game is like XCOM meets Mario + Rabbids. It features the usual mayhem of a Worms game, but you need to plot your way around the battlefield with more care and attention.
