New Spyro the Dragon Game Announced at XBOX Showcase

Spyro the Dragon is back. As announced during the 2026 XBOX June Showcase Event, everyone’s favorite purple dragon is returning for another adventure.

Called “A Realm Beyond,” the game was teased during the Showcase and will be the dragon’s first new Adventure on a console since 2008’s The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. The last overall Spyro game released was the 2018 Reignited Trilogy, which included remakes of all three original Spyro games for the Sony PlayStation.

The new game launches in 2027 for all major consoles and PC.

Spyro The Dragon’s Past As a Pseudo PlayStation Mascot and Handheld Icon

In the late 90s and early 2000s, Spyro was viewed as somewhat of a PlayStation mascot alongside Crash Bandicoot, Lara Croft, and PaRappa the Rapper. Through the years, Spyro would be featured on Nintendo handheld consoles alongside the aforementioned Bandicoot.

Crash got his own new adventure in 2020 with Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. That game was also developed by Toys for Bob, the same company developing the new Spyro game.
