Mina the Hollower is a New Indie GOTY Contender

It seems like there’s a new indie Game of the Year contender in the race, and it’s none other than Yacht Club Games’ Mina the Hollower.

Mina the Hollower, the highly anticipated 2D action platformer from the hands of Yacht Club Games, released earlier this month, and it has been faring quite well across critics and players as well. Actually, it has been doing so well that it seems like the title could take home the Game of the Year award in the indie category.

Mina The Hollower is Currently the Highest Rated Game of the Year

The reviews are out, and Mina the Hollower has been progressing with flying colors. At the moment, if you head over to the Metacritic site, you will observe that Yacht Club Games’ latest platformer is now the highest-rated game on the website. It’s doing better than some of the biggest AAA games that have been released this year, including Forza Horizon 6, Pokémon Pokopia, Resident Evil Requiem, 007 First Light, and more.

Mina the Hollower comes from the hands of the people who brought us another gem back in the day, Shovel Knight. The title brings players back to the Game Boy era with 8-bit visuals, offering varied platforming traversal mechanics and the ability to beat up monsters with your whip or an arsenal of weapons. The goal for Mina, the inventor, is to restore the Spark Generators to save Tenebrous Isle from a curse while burrowing through a variety of exotic locales.

In other news, the Shovel Knight developers revealed that Mina the Hollower’s performance will determine their fate. Additionally, Hounded, one of the participants at the Insider Gaming Showcase, has announced a brand-new publisher deal to release the game.
