Marvel Tōkon Slumps on Steam Thanks to PC Performance Issues

Marvel Tōkon is here and on the open market after a couple of weeks of testing, but it’s failing to hit the mark with all involved. On PC especially, the fighting game is struggling hard, and on Steam, it has secured woeful reviews as many boot the game, run into performance issues, then run away to vent their frustrations.

It has reached such a critical point already that Arc System works took to social media to reveal it’s investigating the reports of poor performance, but the harm is quickly being done already.

Marvel Tōkon Bombs on Steam at Launch

At the time of writing, Marvel Tōkon had received more than 2,000 reviews on Steam, 55% of which were negative, earning it a pretty dire rating overall. The peak player count wasn’t too high either, but it could be argued it’s a niche game and a peak of 24,498 users isn’t so bad.

The complaints are mostly centered around the game’s performance on PC, but others are miffed that they need to log into a PSN account to play the game via Steam. That’s an age-old complaint that has surfaced several times in recent years with other games, and it never goes down well, least of all now after Sony’s recent disc-related bombshell.

On Steam, one user wrote, ’45 FPS for a fighting game is embarrassing. If I can run Tekken and Street Fighter, I should be able to run this.’ Another said, ‘Was very excited for the game, but as is I can’t recommend it, on the grounds that I can’t actually launch the damn thing.’

There are also reports that the game is leaving Linux users out in the cold, preventing them from even booting the game if they’re using that OS.
