Marvel Rivals Could Be Adding Vehicles & Racing Mode

According to recent leaks and datamining, it appears that vehicles and some form of racing game mode could be on the way to Marvel Rivals in the future.

Of course, Marvel Rivals is no stranger to experimentation, with the hero shooter dabbling in PvE game modes like Blood Hunt in the past, but it seems like NetEase could be pushing the boat out even further if these leaks are to be true.

Are Vehicles Coming To Marvel Rivals?

The leaks were first surfaced by a prominent dataminer in the community, X0XLEAK on X, who has a solid track record of leaking upcoming heroes yet to be revealed. They shared that several files and a model were added to the game’s files, indicating that the Marvel Rivals developers could be working on a vehicle system.

A few hours later, RivalsInfo on X shared a video of some gameplay featuring said car in action, as they drive around the Hellfire Bay Beach social hub. The model is fairly basic, with no visual details hinting at it being associated with a certain character.

The car itself moves quite awkwardly, with the camera clipping beneath the model at times. One fan questioned the validity of the footage, but the leaker clarified that they’re not joking about the matter. As always, take the footage with a pinch of salt, but check it out for yourself below:

According to both leakers, it’s unclear when and where these features may appear, but there’s reason to believe it could hint towards a Formula R racing game mode of sorts. When Black Cat was added to the roster in Season 7.5, she was one of a few characters to receive a Formula R skin in-game, with the following characters currently having one:

  • Black Cat
  • Psylocke
  • Luna Snow
  • Thor
  • Squirrel Girl

These cosmetics felt slightly out of place at the time, but with the recent leaks, maybe the devs were planting the seeds for a racing game mode all along? Time will surely tell, though the Season 9.5 roadmap currently shows no signs of a new game mode, so it might be one to keep an eye out for in the future—maybe it arrives with the landmark Season 10?
