League of Legends Dplus Kia Head Coach, Kim ‘cvMax’ Dae-ho, has been reprimanded for comments made in the post-match interviews that followed Dplus Kia’s elimination from the LCK’s Road to MSI against KT Rolster.

Dplus Kia faced KT Rolster in the Road to MSI, falling to a 3-2 defeat, suffering a reverse sweep after blowing a 10k gold lead on Game 4 of the series

cvMax’s punishment regards a poist-match interview question regarding how it felt to lose that 10k gold lead. The coach replied, “It feels like when s**t abruptly stops even after only having done foreplay” (translated)

Those comments have seemingly sparked the disciplinary action that followed, with the Korean organization making a statement early on Monday that noted disciplinary action against the coach, as well as reinforced “communication and professional conduct training.”

Dplus Kia provided the following statement regarding the disciplinary action:

“We sincerely apologize for the concern caused to fans and members of the esports industry due to the inappropriate language used by Head Coach ‘cvMax’ Kim Dae-ho during a recent media interview following the Road to MSI match.

Taking this matter very seriously, we deeply recognize the importance of appropriate language expression and the accompanying social responsibility when communicating with the media and our fans.

Head Coach ‘cvMax’ Kim Dae-ho fully recognizes the seriousness of this matter and is deeply reflecting on his words and his actions.

To prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future, we will immediately implement the following measures.

We will comprehensively review and strengthen our internal media communication guidelines, establishing and strictly enforcing clear standards for public statements and media interviews.

We will take appropriate internal disciplinary measures regarding the head coach and reinforce communication and professional conduct training to demonstrate meaningful improvement.

In addition, we will implement regular professional training on responsible media engagement and effective communication practices, including the use of personal social media channels.”

cvMax returns to the spotlight after Siwoo controversy

The incident is not the first time this split that cvMax has been under the microscope for his conduct. The 35-year-old was criticized by several members of the League of Legends community, including Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont, for a post-game debrief that was shared on DK’s YouTube channel.

Again, following a loss against KT Rolster, the coach heavily criticized a visibly upset Jeon ‘Siwoo’ Si-woo, remarking, “You are the ace. The ace of making us lose.” Later adding, “Nobody played worse than you, honestly.” (translated)

Caedrel described the interaction as demotivating; however, other commenters, such as former Los Ratones Head Coach, Jakob ‘YamatoCannon’ Mebdi, described the interaction as normal for the region.
