A brand-new Kirby game was announced at the latest September 2026 Nintendo Direct event, with a Spring 2027 release window for Switch 2.

To conclude the event, Nintendo made one final announcement that had players buzzing with anticipation. After several guesses about what it could be, it was finally revealed to be a new Kirby game. Nintendo showed an exciting new trailer that showcased fresh gameplay mechanics and offered a glimpse of the game’s premise.

Kirby and the World Beyond’s Trailer Had the Character Breaking His Barriers

The new gameplay trailer for Kirby and the World Beyond started as you would expect: it showed a 3D open world with various platforming mechanics. Kirby was seen fighting a bunch of enemies and bosses, using a floating blade and more. However, things started taking a turn when Kirby managed to toss a boss across the bounds of the world, which ended up creating a hole in the sky, leading to the ‘World Beyond’ part.

Kirby was then seen absorbing a massive crystal sword that seemed to be enveloping all the energy in his world. Grabbing the sword provided Kirby with a brand-new transformation and immense power, allowing him to slice through the largest obstacles in his way. Kirby eventually heads to the hole in the sky and splits it apart with his new sword, revealing an entire new world for the character to explore and learn about.
