Buying a physical edition of a game should mean that coming with a disc is a no-brainer. However, recent events have suddenly got us all wondering if physical media is as important anymore, and Insomniac Games has had to address these concerns over Marvel’s Wolverine.
If you’re here, it’s because you’re excited for Insomniac‘s upcoming Wolverine game, and because GTA 6 has put more terror into you than Scarecrow’s fear toxin ever could.
The announcement that Rockstar‘s new game will include no disc in the physical edition is alarming, and it’s a question that’s starting to spread.
Marvel’s Wolverine Physical Edition Has a Disc

In one fell swoop, physical media collectors have been put on red alert by Rockstar Games. The company has elected to follow in Nintendo’s footsteps by having a ‘physical’ game come with a code in the box, not as a disc or cartridge.
Obviously, Nintendo doesn’t do this for everything, but it happens a lot. GTA 6 will follow suit, although rumors are that GTA 6 will reportedly have a physical disc release in December 2026.
It led to one person asking Insomniac on X: ‘Will this game be physical or a code in a box?’
The Insomniac Games account is very good at replying and answered:
‘The physical version will include a disc in box.’
So that’s one less game you need to worry about. If you’re buying physical, you’ll get a disc. This means you can keep the game for your collection, or you can trade it in once you’re done!
We’re not suddenly going to start reporting on every game and whether it comes with a disc, but it’s amazing the impact one game can have on the industry.
