Marvel’s Wolverine is a long-time coming and focuses on the adamantium-laced beast that is Logan, AKA Wolverine. It’s a brutal game that has some serious claws, and with Insomniac Games at the helm, there are still doubts that Wolverine is the only playable character.
We still have a lot of heavy hitters left in 2026. One of the biggest is a PS5 system-selling exclusive that goes by the name of Marvel’s Wolverine.
It has a very adult ESRB Rating, and this will not be for the faint of heart. We all want to be the Wolverine, but it’s definitely JUST Wolverine.
Insomniac Not Making Same Mistake With Wolverine as It Did Spider-Man

In an interview with GamesRadar, the outlet spoke with Marvel’s Wolverine senior project director Jess Reiner-Reed and Mike Fitzgerald—head of technology.
It’s already kind of been established that Logan is the only playable character, but the presence of Jean Grey in recent Wolverine footage has alerted players, with many bracing for an ‘MJ situation’ all over again.
The two devs made it very clear to GamesRadar and everyone: “Wolverine is our only playable character.”
Interestingly, the interview mentions that Sabretooth or Mystique will “Dynamically join in with your combos for little team-up moves to knock out the bad guys.”
But this is the extent of their involvement, outside of cutscenes and story involvement. You won’t control any other characters other than Wolverine, and this stems from the infamous Spider-Man 2 MJ stealth sections, where an untrained reporter suddenly became Agent 47, and Solid Snake rolled into one, taking out expert soldiers with ease.
There should be no similar concerns this time around.
