Grand Theft Auto 6 could be the biggest game ever made. It’s hardly a big secret that Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have spent years and hundreds of millions of dollars bringing this game to life, and it has the potential to be the single most valuable entertainment launch in history, trumping movies, television shows, and just about everything else.
In a recent data-driven deep dive, it was revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is already driving huge console sales, with gamers now preparing for the title set to drop on November 19, all being well.
There’s also a clear winner when it comes to which consoles are flying off the shelves.

PS5 Pro Leads GTA 6 Console Hype
A report from Hotukdeals revealed that Grand Theft Auto 6, the most anticipated game of all time, is rapidly ramping up the hype and driving console sales. The team revealed that between March and June 2026, 46% of comments made on the platform referencing GTA 6 were from users actively buying a console.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is the primary motivator behind the bulk of these sales, with users heading to Hotukdeals to find the best prices anywhere in the United Kingdom, and looking at similar sites across the world for other deals.
And, when the team dug deeper, they found that the PS5 Pro is leading the charge.
It was suggested that the uptick kicked in when Sony pushed out the PSSR 2.0 update midway through March, which has now positioned the console as the definitive platform for Grand Theft Auto 6 players. Further, the PS5 price hike that occurred in April also seems to have driven more traffic, with users trying to get in ahead of the curve before another price jump potentially hits.
The team explained to Insider Gaming that the spread of comments about GTA 6’s price point has been a particularly keen topic to follow. Many still believe that the game will retail at around £80 or £90 for the standard edition, but despite that, nobody is searching for any GTA 6 bargains on Hotukdeals right now, because even pre-orders aren’t openly available yet.
It was also shown that searches for PS5 deals are up 65% year-on-year, while XBOX is flagging behind in both search and purchase intent. Only the recent price increases for Sony’s hardware slate and the drop in prices for things like the XBOX Game Pass subscription have helped out Microsoft’s console arm.
The expectation is that things will run wild later this year, with GTA 6 launching mere days before Black Friday and the festive shopping season. It’s undoubtedly going to move tens of millions of copies before 2026 is out.
