Quality and Performance modes are fairly standard for most AAA games, giving you the option of crisper graphics or smoother gameplay. Given how mammoth Grand Theft Auto 6 looks and is going to be, the prospect of 60 FPS feels unlikely, but it’s apparently not impossible.
The biggest video game ever hasn’t stayed out of the headlines recently, that’s for sure. GTA 6 pre-orders are finally live, and there’s been talk about the AI in the game and the Ultimate Edition’s $100 price tag.
We’re sure to experience the most unprecedented amount of detail and depth in a GTA game (possibly any game) ever with the sixth mainline game, and it will look so much better with a higher frame rate.
GTA 6 Reportedly Has 60 FPS Performance Mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

According to the Rock and Borys podcast, which correctly broke the news last year about The Witcher 3 getting brand new DLC in 2026, GTA 6 will offer a 60 FPS mode.
The podcast is in Polish, so here’s what YouTube’s auto-dubbed audio said:
“A source close to Rockstar, but I emphasize that this is a single source, but a very reliable one, it’s very likely, and ultimately, according to the information I’ve received, there will be two graphical modes: 30 and 60 FPS on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series [X].”
They say that the Xbox Series S is being locked at 30 FPS right now, but they’re fighting to get it to 60 FPS. The podcast also added: “From what I’ve learned, they’re not 100% sure yet whether 60 FPS will be available at launch.”
Curiously, nothing’s mentioned about whether the Performance Mode is locked to the PS5 Pro, with long-time concerns that the base PS5 model won’t be able to handle 60 FPS, and might struggle to even hit a consistent 30 FPS.
Recent news suggested GTA 6 will have ‘Improved Performance’ and ‘More Stable FPS’ on PS5 Pro, which makes sense. It also fits Sony’s narrative that GTA 6 plays ‘Best on PS5.’
Rockstar should eventually be able to tell us more about the different versions and what FPS to expect.
Fast forward to 30:10 in the video to see the exchange and info drop in full.
