Sucker Punch appears to have released its final update for Ghost of Yotei: Legends, disappointing players who are hoping for more. Legends is the free online multiplayer mode for Ghost of Yotei. Legends launched on March 11 but appears to have already received its last update with its first Raid.

In a blog post, the developers confirmed that The Raid was the last major update planned for Legends, saying, “The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends. It finishes the story of the Yōtei Six in that mode. We’ve loved to see players playing it, continue to play it, and enjoy it. It’s been great.” However, the blog also takes a deep dive into what went into the game mode.

Ghost of Yotei Legends Developers Reflect on The Raid Update

When discussing the elevator pitch for The Raid in Ghost of Yotei Legends, it was said that the initial thought was “an escape room where people are trying to kill you.” Also, discussing the reaction to the mode, Lead Designer Darren Bridges said it’s fun to build a game mode and watch players’ reactions in real time.

“You get a window into what they’re thinking as they’re playing and that communication… You get to see all of it evolving as they’re playing. It’s a very clear window into their full experience. So as developers, that’s really fun to see.”

On the flip side, Ghost of Tsushima, the predecessor to Yotei, had updates for its online co-op mode for a year and a half. It is not clear whether the lack of major updates means that all updates will cease, or if the end of Raids just means reaching the full endgame for the Yōtei Six story. Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the story and report any updates as more information becomes available.
