Gears of War: E-Day Story Trailer Debuts at Gamescom

At Gamescom 2026, Gears of War: E-Day showcased a new trailer. The event in Germany featured the world premiere of the Gears of War prequel’s narrative trailer,

The trailer was about 2 minutes long and showed the Locust Horde’s leader and the early journey of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.

Gears of War: E-Day Sets the Stage for Anticipated Prequel

It’s been 20 years since the launch of the original Gears of War, one of the staple franchises of the XBOX 360’s heyday. In total, there have been 10 previous games in the series, half of which are mainline Gears titles.

This game is set 14 years before the first title and takes place on Emergence Day, when the Locust Horde emerged on the surface of Sera to wage war against humanity, following Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.

This year, XBOX is celebrating its 25th anniversary. They’re also in the midst of a major reset. As part of that reset, they are restructuring their approach to exclusive titles, and the new Gears of War release is an XBOX console exclusive.

The game is set to release on October 6 and will also be released on PC.
