Forza Horizon 6 Isn’t Coming To PS5 This Year, It’s Claimed

Just one day after a public message stating that the game will be available for PlayStation 5 (PS5) players later this year, a journalist is doubling down on claims that Forza Horizon 6 won’t launch on the console in 2026.

In his latest paid newsletter, The Verge’s Tom Warren wrote about the status of Xbox’s open-world racer.

According to Warren, “Microsoft is planning to delay the release of Forza Horizon 6 on PS5, according to sources familiar with Playground Games’ plans”. He adds that the game was initially planned for this year, but it’ll be pushed to “early 2027.”

As far as when in 2027 it should be expected, nothing was given.

Xbox will have a presence at the Tokyo Game Show this month. Many have assumed the update on the game’s PS5 release date would come during the event. So, if the game is being pushed to 2027, it could be assumed that that’s when it will be confirmed.

Of course, until Xbox or Playground Games makes the announcement, it’s all speculation.

First launched on May 19 for Xbox Series X|S and PC, Forza Horizon 6 brings the series to Japan for the first time. In our review, Insider Gaming’s Josh Challies says the game sits at the “pinnacle of the racing genre”.
