The English voice actor for Sephiroth has been recast for Final Fantasy 7: Revelation, with someone from Critical Role taking over the role.

Summer Game Fest 2026 didn’t disappoint Final Fantasy fans, with Square Enix not only revealing Part 3: Revelation, but also providing a Spring 2027 release window for PS5, PC, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X/S. Now, one doubt that fans had from the reveal trailer has been clarified.

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Brings in Critical Role Actor for Sephiroth

In a recent interview with Maxmillian Dood (via Polygon), Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi was asked if they had cast a new English voice actor for Sephiroth, to which he confirmed that they had. Hamaguchi was first surprised that players realized, then proceeded to provide a reason. The director stated that the former English VA for Sephiroth, Tyler Hoechlin, “was unable to return with his voice” for the new part, so they had to cast a new actor.

Sometime later, Maximillian Dood received an update from Square Enix, which allowed him to reveal the new English VA for Sephiroth. He confirmed that the new actor is Travis Willingham, who has lent his voice for a whole lot of characters across a bunch of games, including Infamous Second Son, Saints Row, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel Rivals, Dispatch, and so many more.

In other news, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director has revealed that the game does have choices, but will feature a ‘singular ending’. Additionally, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3’s director has confirmed that they have left the door open for DLC. What are your thoughts on the new voice actor for Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 7 Revelation?
