Fallout 76 Creative Director Promises ‘Dark Content’ Coming Soon

Fallout 76 is fast approaching its tenth anniversary, but the content pipeline from Bethesda Game Studios is far from running cold. In the last few months, I’ve heard numerous times from the developers directly just how much exciting stuff they’ve got lined up for the ultimate post-apocalyptic MMORPG, and it sounds like the next chapter is about to be revealed.

In a new post on social media, Jon Rush, the Creative Director at Bethesda Game Studios working on Fallout 76, wrote that dark content is being revealed very soon. He suggested that the team has been busy piecing this together, and the grand unveiling is on the horizon.

Fallout 76 Trailer at Gamescom?

The Gamescom showcase spectacular is on the horizon, and we already know that XBOX and all associated brands plan to go big at this year’s event. That could mean that we’re on the cusp of seeing more Fallout 76 content revealed during the event, and it wouldn’t be the first time.

In a post on social media, Jon Rush, the game’s Creative Director, gave a teaser about what might be dropping soon:

Fallout 76 has exciting content in the works that we’re looking forward to talking about with you all very soon (VERY soon)… We have been busy!

Dark content…

That can have several meanings, though. First, we could take it very literally and assume it means something related to darkness… Underground, night-time, power outages, and so on. Alternatively, we can take it the other way and presume it’s something tied to a morbid, deadly, or grim theme.

However, aside from a few niche storylines and side tasks, Fallout has never really done dark all that well. It’s a tongue-in-cheek franchise at times that never takes the end of the world too seriously, so it would be relatively tough to see Bethesda pull off something unnatural or disturbing in Fallout 76, a game that, at its core, is all about fun with friends.
