ESRB Says Marvel’s Wolverine Will Have ‘In-Game Purchases’

There’s zero multiplayer in Marvel’s Wolverine, and it’s a classic, single-player Insomniac adventure in the same vein as the company’s other franchises. On the other hand, the game’s official rating classification suggests extra purchases could feature in the game.

Marvel’s Wolverine is a long-time coming, and looks to carry on Insomniac‘s hot streak of games—which has been going for 30 years at this point.

The violent and virtuous Logan is getting a full, standalone outing, but once you’ve paid the initial money for the game, there might be an opportunity or two to spend more.

Marvel’s Wolverine Could Have Microtransactions?

Marvel’s Wolverine ESRB Rating says the game has ‘Strewn Limbs’ and nudity, along with swear words and many other adult themes.

This is good. It’s a proper, no-nonsense adult-themed game with an unrestrained Logan.

But the ESRB rating also has a curious detail, it mentions a couple of times: Marvels’ Wolverine has ‘In-Game Purchases.’

The definition of in-game purchases usually means microtransactions.

If this is the case, it probably means you can buy some extra suits and optional cosmetics for Logan.

However, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (another Insomniac game) also mentioned ‘In-Game Purchases.’ What this boiled down to was anyone who bought the Standard Edition who wanted to upgrade to the Digital Deluxe Edition after their original purchase.

The Marvel’s Wolverine Standard Edition is currently $69.99 on the PS Store, and the Digital Deluxe Edition is $79.99. Moreover, there’s a ‘Digital Deluxe Upgrade’ option, which costs a further $10.00, and it includes the extra content featured in the Digital Deluxe Edition.

This likely is what the ‘in-game purchases’ relate to. If not, we’ll update you.
