Escape from Tarkov Roadmap Reveals New Boss, Weapons, and Mechanics

Battlestate Games has published a new preliminary plan for Escape from Tarkov, the spearhead extraction shooter, that runs until the end of 2026. As it’s preliminary, it should be read with the full appreciation that anything in it can change, but what it does tell us is pretty juicy.

By the end of the year, we’ll have a new boss character, a fresh map (which has been teased for some time), two new weapons, an engine upgrade, a special Halloween event, and much more.

Read on to learn everything you need to know about what’s coming next to Escape from Tarkov.

Escape from Tarkov Update Plan is Thicc

In September, Escape from Tarkov players will finally get access to the Lighthouse overhaul, with Battlestate amending what could be the most hated map in the entire game. This 1.1.5 patch will also see Lightkeeper’s task chain reworked – but we don’t really know how.

In October, a bumper sweep of updates is lined up: 1.2.0, 1.3.0, and 1.3.5. This slate of updates includes:

• PvE Prestige
• Bot spawn system rework in PvE
• AI behavior adjustments in PvE
• Raid reconnect system upgrade
• EXFIL Brothers program
• Unity 6 upgrade
• Game server performance optimizations
• Updated vegetation/foliage visuals

At the end of October, we’ll get a Halloween event, but again, we don’t know what that’ll look like. Battlestate Games usually pushes out some pretty inventive and enjoyable Halloween LTMs, so this should be exciting.

Finally, the year wraps up with 1.4.0, which lands in December.

This is one of the biggest Escape from Tarkov updates of 2026, and it comes with:

• Season two launch
• End of the Line location
• New boss – Povodyr
• Ally healing ‘knockdown’ state with recovery (yikes)
• First-person magazine loading animations (woohoo!)
• Containers with gear presets
• Simplified GPS system
• FAMAS and G3 additions
• New customization options in the Expansion Hub
• Quality-of-life improvements

Additionally, the team stressed that more, smaller events will land during the delivery of the roadmap, so keep an eye out for those.
