Elden Ring is reportedly set to receive a movie adaptation with A-list backers behind it.
Video game adaptations are the latest trend in television and movies. A Minecraft Movie made $301 million during its opening weekend and continues to dominate the box office. Meanwhile, Sonic has become an extremely successful movie franchise, as the fourth installment is confirmed for 2027.
Additionally, a Split Fiction movie was confirmed with Sydney Sweeney taking a lead role, and The Last of Us Season 2 is one of the most popular television shows of 2025. Next on the list of video game adaptations is Elden Ring.
Elden Ring Film Reportedly in The Works

Nexus Point News reported that Alex Garland and A24 are partnering to create a film adaptation of Elden Ring.
The report claims that filming is expected to begin shooting in 2026. Garland’s most recent project, Warfare, received critical acclaim as it follows a Navy SEAL surveillance mission in Iraq that goes wrong.
Garland’s previous film, Civil War, released in 2024, was also a fan favorite. It depicted a dystopian future America embroiled in warring factions. 28 Years Later is the filmmaker’s next project, and the highly anticipated sequel releases on June 20.
This news doesn’t come as a total surprise because Game of Thrones author and Elden Ring contributor George R.R. Martin revealed in February to IGN that there were talks about making a movie out of Elden Ring.
And in 2024, Elden Ring Director Hidetaka Miyazaki told The Guardian, “I don’t see any reason to deny another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie, for example.”
In other gaming news, Rockstar Games confirmed the Grand Theft Auto 6 plot, released 70 new images, and revealed a new trailer.
