Deltarune Chapter 5 Reaches New Steam Player Milestone

Deltarune Chapter 5 broke records for the game’s all-time high player count on Steam.

Deltarune Chapter 5 was announced during the June Nintendo Direct presentation. Earlier today, the latest chapter of Toby Fox’s RPG launched on Steam. The release of the latest chapter led to an influx of new players. The game is inching ever closer to 300,000 concurrent players. At the time of this writing, there are 242,144 concurrent players. Earlier in the day, the player count peaked at over 291,000. This means the all-time high was set earlier today at 291,816 players.

The first two chapters of this game were released for free back in 2018. Fans were then left waiting years before chapters 3 and 4 came in 2025. Now, Chapter 5 has already been released, and work on the sixth chapter has already begun. Toby Fox recently stated in a blog that these later chapters have been easier to develop. Because of that, work on the seventh chapter may begin before the end of the year.

“This Chapter is easier to make than the others, so the development is going quite fast. This sounds crazy, but it’s not unrealistic that some staff members may start working on Chapter 7 before the end of the year,” Fox wrote in a blog following the release of the Chapter 5 trailer.

Deltarune Chapter 5 is out on PC, Mac, Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Insider Gaming will continue to monitor the game and report any updates as more information becomes available.
