Several Compulsion Games developers have taken to LinkedIn to say they are now looking for work, seemingly confirming that the studio will close its doors.

The posts come just weeks after rumors began to swirl that Compulsion Games would be a part of Xbox’s studio closures and layoffs in July.

Compulsion Games is Shutting Down

It’s worth noting here that, based on posts from developers at Compulsion Games so far, no one has actually mentioned the word “layoffs”, and seemingly, developers are getting ahead of the impending announcement of the studio closing down.

The posts seem to confirm that Compulsion Games will be part of a massive restructuring at Xbox, which will likely see several studios close.

According to rumors, management at studios reportedly on the cutting block is currently in negotiations with Xbox to potentially go independent or find another publisher.

However, where Compulsion Games is concerned, it looks like negotiations aren’t going well, as over the last 2 days several developers have taken to LinkedIn to announce they are looking for work.

While no information has been released on what Compulsion Games was working on after the release of South of Midnight, several developers have mentioned that they were working on an unannounced title. It’s currently unclear what the future of that title will be.

Reports and rumors suggest that Xbox’s restructuring will be a ‘blood bath,’ with several studios closing and potentially hundreds of developers losing their jobs, with the announcements coming in the next couple of weeks. Ninja Theory and Double Fine are also reportedly on Xbox’s target list for studio closures and/or selling them.
