Capcom Bringing Back Old IPs ‘That Haven’t Had A New Title Launch Recently’

You’ll find few video game companies in the world that have built up as impressive a portfolio of IPs and franchises as Capcom. Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mega Man, and the list goes on. If you dig deeper, you might uncover one or two forgotten IPs that Capcom is bringing back.

The best about Capcom is that you never know what’s coming next. A stellar 2026 has included one of the best Resident Evil games of all time, a remake announcement of Code Veronica, a new IP with a great future in Pragmata, and the return of Onimusha. Capcom couldn’t swing and miss if it tried, which is why it’s exciting to hear the team wants to revive more IPs.

Capcom Exploring ‘Its Rich Library of Content’

Onimusha: Way of the Sword hit 1 million sales on launch day, and it’s expected to far surpass this. I’m not sure what Capcom’s projections were for the relaunch, but it shows that people are happy to have Onimusha back.

In a statement addressing the game’s sales figures, another interesting line has been picked up on:

‘In addition to regularly releasing major new titles each year, Capcom is focusing on re-activating IPs that haven’t had a new title launch recently. The company is working to further maximize corporate value by leveraging its rich library of content, including this title.’

Alarm bells are ringing already. News broke last year that Capcom aims to make new projects for Devil May Cry, Mega Man, and Ace Attorney. If we probe further, Dead Rising 4 was in 2016, and even Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite came out in 2017!

There’s potential for a host of returning Capcom IPs, and the main beneficiary is clearly all of us.
