Caedrel to race Formula 1 Four-Time Champion Max Verstappen in ‘Max vs 100’ Event

League of Legends co-streaming powerhouse Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont will take on four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen in a go-kart race.

Caedrel will be one of 100 competitors to race against Max in the ‘Max vs 100’ on September 16, streamed on Disney+ and the ESPN app.

Caedrel to race Verstappen in Max vs 100 event

Max Verstappen will take on 100 drivers in the Max vs 100 event, racing in go-karts where the Dutchman’s racing career began as a child.

Taking place at Silverstone in England, one of motorsports’ most iconic circuits, Max will start from the back, with the task of overtaking every single one of the 100 challengers in one of the biggest go-kart races the world has seen.

Amongst the 100 are athletes such as ultrarunner Arda Saatçi, basketball shooting phenomenon Chris “Lethal Shooter” Matthews, and freestyle mountain biker Matt Jones, as well as streamers like TheGrefg, TheDonato, and Caedrel.

Like Max Verstappen, Caedrel is a Red Bull athlete, alongside the names of Morgan ‘Angry Ginge’ Burtwistle, Liam ‘Jukeyz’ Lunt, and Ludwig Ahgren.

That likely banked Caedrel the invite to the event, but Caedrel’s interest in Formula 1 extends beyond that partnership. The League streamer has consistently shown interest in F1 during his streams, most notably in the performance of Max and Caedrel’s fellow Brit and Twitch streamer, Lando Norris.

Ahead of the event, Verstappen expressed excitement at returning to his karting rounds sharing, “In go-karts you learn all the basics: starts, defending, overtaking,” he said. “Of course, I spent a long period of my life go-karting, so it’s always nice to return. It’s about understanding the grip of the go-kart. I’ve done so many years in go-karting that you quite naturally get back into things.”

Asked what Max Verstappen was most looking forward to, his answer was simple. “Just seeing the carnage unfold in front of me.”

The event will take place in a custom layout of Silverstone’s iconic track, designed to allow 101 racers on the circuit at the same time.

Ahead of the event, track designer David Terrien and Red Bull test driver Sebastian Job tested out the format with 50 cars on track.

Job shared, “I think to overtake 100 cars is going to be extremely difficult. Today we did it with 50, and even that was a challenge to do it in the allotted time. He’s got his work cut out for him big time.”
