BODYCAM Just Hit a New Peak Player Count, And It Took Just 30 Minutes

BODYCAM‘s enormous new Locked and Loaded update is finally live, and it’s proving to be absolutely transformative for the immersive, hyper-realistic first-person shooter. The team at Reissad Studio confirmed that it took just 30 minutes after the update was deployed for the game to hit a new all-time high player count on Steam.

As I write this, the player count peaked at 32,343 users minutes ago, dwarfing the numbers seen when the game launched on Steam in 2024. If you want to know why the BODYCAM update is so exciting, simply scroll down.

BODYCAM’s Locked and Loaded Update is Turning Heads

Reissad Studio was cooking Locked and Loaded for months, all while building the anticipation amid a very eager community. The update is finally here, and it’s causing the player count to skyrocket, topping some of the biggest players on the market (on Steam, at least).

But what’s so exciting about Locked and Loaded?

Well, there’s now a loadout system with full customization mechanics, bolstered by a staggering array of 400 attachments. These attachments add more immersion, applying gameplay effects depending on what they are, which means that the best BODYCAM loadouts will now mean something.

Several new weapons have also been added:

  • BK-101 shotgun
  • Rivington sniper rifle
  • SG9-X machine pistol
  • Veaper machine pistol
  • SG5-X machine pistol (a returning weapon)
  • CR-75 pistol

The in-game optics and magnifiers have been greatly reworked, animations have been overhauled, and new ‘first-person arms’ have been painstakingly designed for even more of that juicy immersion.

Drones and RC cars have been added, melee combat has now been fully implemented, grenades have been hugely enhanced, and audio has been absolutely pulled to pieces and rebuilt.

VOIP has been rebuilt, a new shooting range built into a persistent, explorable hub has been introduced, and there’s a new and harrowing map that adds trench warfare. It’s rather appropriately named ‘Trenches’, of course.

Lighting has been redone, weather has been overhauled, game modes have been tweaked, a host migration system has been implemented with better networking mechanics, progression has been examined, and the UI has been reimagined.

I think it’s quite fair to say that this is one of the most substantial updates to hit a game in recent years. It’s safe to call this BODYCAM 2.0, right? Incredibly, BODYCAM isn’t even at the 1.0 milestone yet, and the team will continue to evolve it through the early access phase.

It’s insane.
