Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will become a standalone game on July 7, no longer launching through the Call of Duty HQ app. The announcement was officially made on the Call of Duty Updates Twitter account.
These effects will take place on July 7 at noon Eastern Time. The game, originally released in 2024, will be available as a standalone download rather than in the crossover Call of Duty launcher.
Call of Duty HQ Drops Black Ops 6 Support on July 7

Launched in November 2023, Call of Duty HQ aimed to consolidate all modern Call of Duty experiences under a single launcher. It was described at the time as the “front door” for the franchise across all consoles and PC platforms.
As for the response on social media, some applauded the move and said that all the games in the franchise should have Standalone launchers. Many are just looking for more news about the upcoming ports of Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and 2, with some questioning whether this move was made to make room for those games on the platform.
The forthcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will not launch day-and-date on XBOX Game Pass. This was a decision made by the executives at Microsoft’s gaming arm as it continues to try to correct course after some roller coaster years for the brand. Learn more about that here.
