Battlefield 6 Free Trial Tries To Push Users Into The Game’s Battle Royale Mode

Battlefield 6 will undergo a lengthy free trial starting on August 18, welcoming users everywhere for free to experience a vast portion of the game’s multiplayer platform, including the new Top Gun collaboration.

It’ll be free to play until August 25, and everything you unlock during the free trial will remain on your account if you decide to invest in the full game. However, the way to get access to the free trial of Battlefield 6 involves a push towards the game’s battle royale mode, REDSEC.

Battlefield 6 Trial Involves Downloading REDSEC

REDSEC isn’t a terrible battle royale, but when it dropped shortly after the base game’s launch last year, it smacked of Warzone and felt too close to the Call of Duty shooter to truly stand apart from the game.

Unfortunately, traction proved to be tricky for REDSEC, and an envisioned esports scene bolted onto the game fell apart without any prior warning or follow-up.

Now, Battlefield 6’s developers at Battlefield Studios are trying to get more players into the free-to-play battle royale mode, by hook or by crook.

They’ve stated that from August 18 to 25, you can play Battlefield 6 multiplayer for free, including a series of game modes and even a sampling of the new Top Gun crossover event:

• Top Gun: Carrier Strike
• Conquest
• Breakthrough
• Escalation
• Casual Breakthrough

The free trial includes four maps, including the two newest maps added with the fresh season that dropped mere weeks ago:

• Wake Island
• Tsuru Reef
• Cairo Bazaar
• Hagental Base

It’s great that everything you unlock will carry over if you decide to fully invest in Battlefield 6, but the entry requirement for the free trial is strange.

Download Battlefield REDSEC on your platform to access the Battlefield 6 Free Trial – no purchase required. The trial runs until August 25. Keep your earned unlocks after it ends and continue playing REDSEC for free.

If you want free Battlefield 6, you need to also download REDSEC. It’s not clear how that works, though. Can you download REDSEC, get the free Battlefield 6 trial, and then remove REDSEC from your system? That’s a question worth answering.
