ARC Raiders Frozen Trail Update Arrives October 8 As First Details Emerge

ARC Raiders ditched the monthly update model back in May this year, with the decision to strive towards two major updates a year instead. It’s been largely quiet for the extraction shooter since then, but a release date for the next major content drop, Frozen Trail, has been provided, with October 8 the big day.

We knew a new map and ARC threats would be part of the update, but along with the release date announcement, Embark Studios has also shared a more in-depth look at what players can expect from the Frozen Trail update, including a new high-level challenge, as well as deepened progression.

Frozen Trail Details Shared By Embark

One of the key pillars of the new Frozen Trail update is the arrival of a brand new map for raiders to explore. With greater verticality and opportunities for discovery, you’ll explore a frozen settlement nestled between towering mountains at the edge of the Rust Belt.

Of course, a new map means new ARC threats, with additions ranging from small annoyances to an “enormous machine that will halt you in your tracks.”

If you’re looking for a challenge, though, then you’ll be happy to hear that a major new ARC Operation is on the way. Embark claims that it will offer “meaningful decisions, dynamic encounters, and moments that demand cooperation and careful judgement.”

At the heart of the update is the deepened progression, with the Outpost serving as a new space for your raider to inhabit. It’s dubbed the first steps for your raider to reclaim the surface and take the fight back to the ARC, though improvements to the Skill Tree and Raider Decks are also on the way.

That rounds up the major additions coming with Frozen Trail, but a lot more is hinted at, too. From new weapons and ways to customize them to gadgets, cosmetics, instruments and more, there’s still plenty left to uncover. More details will be shared in September.

Deemed the biggest update for the game since launch, Embark Studios will be hoping that the Frozen Trail update will put ARC Raiders back on the map.
