Over the past week or so, there’s been a lot of discussion surrounding the future of James Bond following the breakout success of 007 First Light. It’s sold three million copies in under two weeks, and fans are already desperate to know if a sequel is on the way.

Well, just a few days back, it seemed like it was ‘too early’ for Amazon to discuss Bond’s future, with suggestions that future titles will be handled by Amazon and MGM instead of IO Interactive. As you probably know, though, things change fairly quickly in the gaming industry, and Amazon’s Head of Gaming has now revealed that a sequel to 007 First Light ‘should be made.’

007’s Future Looks Bright

Speaking with IGN at Summer Game Fest, Jeff Gattis, Amazon’s Head of Gaming, discussed what the future of 007 looks like now that First Light has been so successful.

Firstly, he clarified Amazon’s position on the matter, noting that he ‘did not confirm Amazon Game Studios is publishing the next one.’ He continued to heap praise on IO Interactive, revealing that they’ve been ‘great partners’ to work with.

Now it’s onto the juicy bit, as Gattis began to delve deeper into the future of the franchise. As was already suggested before, he reiterated that ‘as long as we feel there’s a desire for players to have the game, it’s safe to say it’s going to be made.’

Well, with three million copies sold, the likelihood of a healthy profit, and heaps of critical praise, it seems like there’s more than enough demand for a sequel, leading Gattis to close with:

Seems like a sequel should be made.

Hopefully, that should put to bed the concern that the future of Bond is up in the air, and we can enjoy 007 First Light with the hope that a sequel is just a matter of time away.
