It has been claimed that a major data breach has occurred linked to Grand Theft Auto 6 that has resulted in gameplay for the upcoming open-world epic leaking online. In recent hours, several clips have surfaced on social media, all of which are being hit with DMCA strikes by Take-Two Interactive, which almost always lends credence to the content.
In-development footage of the game and claimed features have also appeared online, across social circles and gaming forums worldwide. Insider Gaming understands that preview events for GTA 6 are underway, but it’s not clear if the alleged leak footage originates from the event.
Given the quality of some of the footage, it’s unlikely.
In a series of clips that have surfaced online, seemingly tied to another batch of GTA 6 leaks, several elements of the upcoming Rockstar Games title have been ‘revealed’. This includes exploration aspects, a hefty six-star wanted level, some side activities, a new, never-before-seen location, and an interaction between NPCs.
There are also examples of loadout systems, refuelling mechanics for cars, some of the in-game gadgets like the phone system, and a look at how stamina works.
Again, it’s worth stressing in no uncertain terms that these leaks are not corroborated or certified in any way, aside from the fact that Take-Two is actively striking down any examples that appear online.
That’s why I’ve not replicated them here, of course.
Most of the leaks reference a bizarre cryptocurrency link that should be ignored at all costs. It says that, if you want more footage, head to this weird site, but I cannot say strongly enough that you should not do that.
The first ‘leak’ surfaced a few hours ago, at the time of writing, and showcased Jason playing basketball outside his beachfront house. It was a bit janky, and many believed it to be an AI construct before the DMCA strikes started flying in.
It has been reported by some that the leaker obtained and revealed the footage as a way of protesting the digital-only release of GTA 6, slated to occur on November 19th.
For now, the only official reveal or dose of gameplay on the horizon is tied to the Netflix ‘extended look’ that’s being released on August 27.
